I'm a documentary photographer who likes to spend time with the people I photograph in order to understand them and what they do, not just what it looks like from the outside.

My route here was an evolution. I started in theatre, then film and video production, in the 1990s — work that taught me how to read a room and build a scene. I spent over 15 years running a creative agency, which gave me a sharp sense of what a client actually needs from a story, and how to deliver it on budget and on time. I returned to photography around 2010, drawn specifically to documentary and reportage: real people, in real situations, telling their story.

I'm drawn to traditional crafts and skills, environmental conservation, social impact, and agriculture — subjects where people are quietly getting on with demanding, often overlooked work, and where a longer, more attentive kind of storytelling is required for authenticity.

I'm based on the Berkshire/Hampshire border, close to Reading, with good access to road and public transport links.
